Catholic Charities hosts turkey box distribution for Thanksgiving

Catholic Charities, with the help of friends at The RK Group, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Gonzaba Foundation once again distributed more than 250 Thanksgiving meals of frozen turkeys and the trimmings on November 21 at the Guadalupe Community Center (GCC).

Staff and volunteers distributed turkey boxes, complete with food items to feed a family of four for Thanksgiving, curbside at the GCC. Individuals and families from the community were invited to receive a turkey box to celebrate Thanksgiving. Staff and volunteers also distributed turkey boxes to seniors enrolled in the Adopt-A-Senior program in the comfort and safety of their homes.

For several weeks, volunteers from Ernst & Young, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and from around the city prepared turkey boxes for families. They wrapped and decorated boxes, sorted and packaged food items, and distributed the boxes curbside.

Catholic Charities President/CEO J. Antonio Fernández said, “Catholic Charities is thankful we can once again offer this Thanksgiving meal to our neighbors in need. As always, it is such a blessing to work alongside our friends to serve together to spread joy during the season.”
