Catholic Charities hosts New Year’s luncheon for migrants

Catholic Charities hosted a New Year’s luncheon for migrants at the MRC Centro de Bienvenida on January 1. Prior to the lunch a Mass was celebrated by Bishop Emeritus Michael Pfeiffer of the Diocese of San Angelo in the Interfaith Prayer Room.

Bishop Pfeiffer celebrated Mass on site with a message of hope and healing for those passing through the San Antonio community. Immediately following the liturgy, visitors, staff, and volunteers were provided a warm, fresh meal sponsored by JAB Trading.

Catholic Charities’ President/CEO J. Antonio Fernández said, “We are moved by the work of our community to partners, staff, volunteers, and support our brothers and sisters traveling through our community on their journey to a safe and fruitful life in America. Our mission guides us to provide for the needs of others, regardless of race, religion, and national origin. We are happy to compassionately celebrate those in our care.”
